The Barkwood Inn Pet Resort FAQs
My dog doesn't seem to like other dogs. Do you think he or she will do well in Daycamp?
All of our Daycamp Guests go through an initial Evaluation to ensure that they are a good match for a Group Play environment. Once a dog is introduced to the other Daycamp Guests, he or she will usually settle in pretty quickly. It is not uncommon for some dogs to be nervous at first, but eventually, they learn that the other Daycamp Guests are friendly and there to have a good time! If your dog is not a good fit for Group Play, you might want to consider Dayboarding with private playtimes.
My dog has received a vaccination for Canine Cough prior to checking in at the Resort. Is it still possible for him or her to get Canine Cough from another dog?
All precautions are taken by the Resort Staff upon check-in to ensure that all Pet Guests are healthy and free of disease. Any Pet Guest exhibiting symptoms of illness after check-in would be immediately isolated to prevent exposure to other Pet Guests. However, it is possible for a dog to be infected with Canine Cough and be contagious to other dogs while not exhibiting any symptoms. When dogs are allowed to play in a group setting, they are risking exposure to any virus or bacteria another dog may carry. Our vaccination and health requirements will minimize your Pets' exposure to illness, but in no way prevent it completely. In addition, Canine Cough vaccines are not 100% effective; therefore, it is possible for a vaccinated dog to contract Canine Cough from another dog.
What are the check-in and check-out times?
Check-In
Monday - Friday, 12 p.m. - 6 p.m. | Saturday - Sunday, 12 p.m. - 3 p.m.
Check-Out
Monday - Friday, 7 a.m. - 12 p.m. | Saturday - Sunday, 8 a.m. - 12 p.m.
Daycamp Fee Of $15 Is Charged Per Guest for Early Check-In or Late Check-Out
Why do you have check-in and check-out times?
The Housekeeping Staff must have ample time between Guests to completely clean and sanitize each Suite.
Why do you charge a nightly rate instead of a daily rate like many other boarding facilities?
Charging a nightly rate ensures that our Clients are only paying for the time their Pet is a Guest of the Resort. Charging a daily rate would be more costly to our Clients, as the cost for a one-night stay at a facility that charges a daily rate would actually be 2 nights, due to a charge for the day of check-in as well as the day of check-out.
How long does each Group Playtime Session last?
Each Play Session will run from 30 to 45 minutes. The length of each Play Session is dependent upon the number of Guests and weather conditions.
Can someone else pick up my Pet?
Yes, but we must have written authorization. Please see the "Others authorized to pick up my Pet" section of the Client Agreement form.
Is someone at the Resort overnight?
Yes. A resident staff member lives on-site to ensure the safety and well being of our Overnight Guests.
What should I bring for my Pet's Overnight Stay?
Other than your Pet's personal food (prepackaged in individual serving size Ziploc baggies labeled with your Pet's name), and any medications, everything your Pet will need is provided by the Resort. An elevated bed, raised feeder if needed, and stainless steel food and water bowls are all included in your Pet's stay. You are welcome to bring in your own bedding and toys, but please do not bring anything of value, as it is possible for items to be lost, damaged, or soiled during your Pet's stay.
Is your Resident Staff available for after hours or late check-outs?
Our Resident Staff works behind the scenes after hours to ensure that your Pet has a comfortable, enjoyable stay. Check-in and check-out times are only available during lobby hours.
Why does my dog seem so tired, and thirsty when he or she comes home from the Resort?
All our Pet Guests are given access to plenty of fresh water in their suite and all play areas, as well as lots of naptimes during their stay. However, playing with their new friends in an exciting new environment can really wear them out! It is completely normal for your Pet to desire some extra downtime and a big bowl of water after arriving home.
My Pet will require daily medications. Is your staff able to accommodate?
Our staff is comprised of Certified Pet Care Specialists, as well as a Certified Veterinary Technician. Whether your Pet requires injections, oral, or topical medications, our qualified staff is able to administer your Pet's medications. All medications should arrive in their original medication bottle with the Pet Guest's name, medication name, and clear instructions.
What is the fee for medication administration?
Medication administration is billed at a rate of $4 per day, regardless of the frequency and type of administration.
Why do you require my Pet's food to be prepackaged in individual serving size Ziploc Baggies?
Measuring and prepackaging your Pet's food will ensure that he or she is fed the same diet you feed at home, for the entire length of his/her stay. This simple step will reduce the chance of an upset stomach due to a diet change, ensure that enough food has been packed, and assist our staff in the daily feeding routine.
